Last week David and I abused our priviledges and used the horse ultrasound again! Tee hee hee! We don't have a way of getting the photos off of the machine so I took a picture of the screen. The quality isn't that great initially because it's not the right kind of ultrasound thingy but add that with my picture of a picture and this is what you get! I labeled the pictures to give you some idea of what they are of. Good luck interpreting!

I see L O N G legs!
Okay, girl. It's just me, the OBGYN Nurse aka Miss Party Pooper. You are making me nervous with all these ultrasounds. Especially using one intended for horses. Some docs believe that since repetative ultrasounds have not been studied to see what effects it has on the baby, they will only do 2 ultrasounds per pregnancy. They think the sound waves are pretty strong. (And some refuse to do one in the first trimester.) And there are some docs who think the above is just a lot of hooey. But BE CAREFUL anyway!
Love ya girl!

p.s. BEAUTIFUL Baby!
Karen-
I appreciate your concern! Rest assured that we probably won't do another one (I've seen it now and since I am feeling kicks I know that things are going well in there!).
The ultrasound that we were using is not as strong as one for humans, thus the poor quality images. (Ultrasounding a horse isn't like people. You insert your hand and the probe into the rectum and use it to scan the ovaries and uterus, which are directly below, to determine stage of follicular development or conception. It's not a belly one, which you would assume would be much stronger!) Also, it has a much smaller scan area than the people ones.
I hope that makes things a little clearer!
I had at least 5 us my last pregnancy, all by doctors, one even sent to a bigger, higher intensity machine/facility, so I wouldn't worry! It's not like you're doing one daily. I've heard of women in the medical field with access that run over and check things out quite often! It's natural to be curious, especially in the beginning when things are do new and it's harder to tell if things are really progressing. I know how much you revel the kicks, so you'll just sit back and enjoy that phase now!
Okay, Megs! Just make sure Dave isn't putting it in YOUR rectum, ha ha...
