We watched the national bee on TV and I was lost. Those words were not only hard, but totally obscure! They sure did make my 4th grade spelling bee elimination word of 'Thanksgiving' look pathetic. Or, is it more pathetic that I still remember what word knocked me out of a 4th grade bee?!
I found this quiz on msn.com today and thought I would pass it along. I got a 7/10. See how you stack up... and surely someone else remembers their elimination word? Please?

whew! that was tricky, it's harder than you think to pick the correct spelling, much less come up with it on your own. I got 8/10, missing the first and last one. . and I knew the first one, but somehow chose it wrong, but totally guessed on some others b/c I didn't even know the words AT ALL!!
And yes, I was thinking it was pretty crazy that you remembered your word! did you know you misspelled it, though, in your post, too?

i don't remember my elimination word from mrs. calloway's 5th grade class spelling bee, but i do remember that it was SUPER easy and i got all cocky about it and in doing so left out a letter. i think i may have been the first person out. you'd have thought it would have taught me not to be a smart ass, but really, not so much.
