Big girl

We tallied the votes and Big Girl Bed it was. I found this sheet and comforter set at a consignment shop for super cheap and E loves her princesses! She has done really well with staying in bed once she lays down. (Maybe it's my threat of going back to a crib if she's naughty that's doing it!)

There was a lot of horse riding going on this weekend. Ella likes to ride her horses to "get the buck out of 'em". I kid you not.

When I got home Friday night I found E with her pig tails out. I was struck with the realization that I hardly ever see her with her hair down.

Her hair is pretty stinkin' long. Way past her shoulders.

Does anyone else think she looks like me in this pic?

Good news! The raspberry plant that I thought I had thoroughly killed is coming back! I guess that's the beauty of growing something that is essentially a weed!

New sprouts at the bottom. Hooray!

Dog Day

I love my job!
In additon to the everyday goings on around here (which can get wild at times) I get treated to some of the neatest things!

One of our classes is Behavior of Domestic Animals and they had a very interesting lab that everyone was invited to. Over my lunch hour I got to watch the Topeka Police K-9 unit demonstrate their dogs. Very, very cool. These dogs are so smart and well behaved! Their favorite toy in the whole world is a foot long PVC pipe! Who knew? Maybe I will try out some of their techniques on Mags and Lil... maybe not.

In honor of seeing some very useful dogs working hard, I thought I would post a picture of Mags doing some hard work as well.

Licking off plates is a tiresome job.

Phone pics

I looked over my phone yesterday and realized that I have a few pictures on there that I never took off! So, here's me emptying my phone gallery!

I'm looking for some Mom advice: E is almost 3 and still sleeps in her crib. She hasn't tried to crawl out and has never mentioned having a big girl bed so when do we make the change? I've heard that you want to leave kiddies contained as long as you can but... 3 years old? Whaddaya think?

Wrapped

A quick shot into the bathroom as David does E's hair. She has him wrapped tight as a tick!

What should David's hairstylist name be? I'm thinking Frankie.

Fair

The Kansas State Fair called our name Saturday! Ella, of course, just loved it. Lots of animals to see and take pictures of!

A goat with no ears and two piggies snuggling up!

Nap time

In front of the Watusi cattle. Those are some big horns, y'all.

Down the main drag. See Madame Lil's? I KNEW Lilly was a hussy!

This goose was MEAN and kept hissing at us. Look real close and you can see its teeth.

Fine feathered friends!

Check out the flags to see how the wind was blowing as we rode the sky bridge!

And finally...

Where is our car?!?!

Chubby

Did y'all ever do the "My name is Chubby. My mama's chubby, my daddy's chubby, even my dog's chubby" thing?

I remember it well and have thus passed it on to my daughter!

Ella Grace makes for quite an entertaining supper!

We're famous. Again.

Oh boy.
These are scans of an article in today's K-State paper, The Collegian. I know the text is hard to read so check out the online article. See if you can find a common thread among these girls. I'll wait.

Did you find it? Could it be, perhaps, that they both are from animal science?! Good grief! What does that say to you about animal science girls? Or maybe girls who graduated from K-State in animal science and now work for the department?!?!

We are having a ball with this over here! There has been talk of using it in some of our recruiting efforts! Ha!

Scenes

Wild sunflowers in one of the university's pastures.
This is might be why they are considered weeds here!

Cows in the adjoining pasture enjoying the sunflowers.

A little bit of garden fun

This may, in fact, be the last garden post of the season. Y'all are quite sad to hear it, I know.

The weather has turned very fallish here so the only things we have going on are okra, two tomato plants and the pumpkin. Everything else got pulled up the other weekend.

It looks as if the pumpkin plant is having a wee bit of trouble and I may only get the three that we have growing. If that's the case, Halloween will have to come early!

Wow! The weeds are taking over!
Misc. notes:

My friend Andria did the coolest poll on her blog. She posted about what costume she should get for her adorable daughter Dellaina for Halloween. (Click here if you would like to check it out and vote!) I saw hers and felt like a little kid thinking "I want one! I want one!". So now the question is what to do a poll about? Hmmm... If you have any ideas, send them over. I want to be cool too!

Notice anything different about the blog? Ashley started a trend and converted her blog to Blogger beta. Just like above, I wanted the new cool thing too so I have swapped. It allows for easier color and font changing so don't be surprised if I mix it up a bit! Heads up, fellow bloggers! Blogger says eventually all blogs will have to convert.

And finally, Marisa, a.k.a Aunt Sissy, has been doing her own blog lately. I added the link to the list at the right. Feel free to check it out if you have time! (There is one really crazy story on there from her Lowe's store.) Don't be surprised if you see some Lowe's/Home Depot clashing going on. There are some very loyal employees of each who read Here Comes the Bride and they aren't afraid to lash out at each other every now and then!

Football

We went to our first K-State game Saturday!

We stumbled into some free tickets and jumped on it! We had thought about leaving E at home but decided that she would enjoy it. Boy, did she ever! My little girl is a football FAN. She learned all of the K-State cheers and entertained all of the people around us. (Don't worry, UGA fans! For every KSU cheer Ella knows two UGA!)

K-State's stadium is small compared to Sanford so even though our tickets were considered nosebleeds, they really weren't.

See how close we live to the stadium?!

"Go Cats!"

One of the things that the K-State fans do is after the announcer says "Good for a K-State..." and everyone yells "First down" or "Touchdown" and do the appropriate hand signals. Ella picked up on the hand signals and was having fun doing them. We thought it was pretty funny so David taught her some other ones. (We just know that Aunt Jamie and Grandaddy are going to be so proud!)

Since the videos went over well last week, I decided to get one of her doing the signals. I wasn't thinking and turned the camera sideways to shoot and now I don't know how to flip it. It's only 30 seconds so you shouldn't get too bad of a neck cramp! Notice the red socks. She was quite proud of those. Picked 'em out herself because they matched her shirt. Also, I apologize for my loud mouth. I must have been right over the microphone. Sheesh.

Sideways, loud mouth, red sock football hand signal video

Silly girl

I have been composing a rant of a post regarding a movie I watched recently but can't quite seem to get it all down before the day ends. Maybe I will assign myself a little homework this weekend and get that done...

Is anyone missing the weekly post about the garden?! No?!

Here are some quick pictures of my silly girl after her bath. She likes to cover up with the towel and we play 'what is this lump?'. She goes wandering around the house blindly and then takes the towel off and screams "it's me!". It's all pretty funny watching her bump into things and then laughing hysterically but maybe you just have to be there...

Here she comes, then bumping into the dishwasher
(I see her hiney, all white and shiney, and when it wiggles, it makes me giggle!)

Had to crop this to keep it G rated.

We're Famous! (sort of)

Today K-State said 'Good Morning America!' a day earlier than we first expected. The College of Ag didn't have as big of a turn out as they had hoped but it was still cool!

Cowgirl E

Sunday and Monday the weather was absolutely gorgeous! We jumped at the chance to enjoy the cooler temps and took Ella out for a ride on Scooter. David was teaching her how to get Scoot to turn and I was able to grab this video!

And one more of some trotting.

I just know that Grandma and Grandpa are going to be so excited to see their little cowgirl in action!

Here are a few photos from the ride.

Clever editing makes it look like E is steering all by herself!

We got to go over to the gym Sunday and E and Mal had free rein on the trampolines.

These make me laugh!

And now something to make you laugh... Poor Miss Mags is becoming a woman. We did some quick thinking and fashioned a panty/diaper for her out of leftover puppy pad trainer. We laughed and laughed at Maggie walking around in this thing. (I did explain to her that this was a natural part of being a female, etc. but she didn't seem to appreciate...)

Good Morning from Kansas

Attention Good Morning America watchers!

Next week GMA is unveiling their new logo and K-State got to help! Producers went to four locations around the country to film people saying 'Good Morning America!' Can you believe that they chose Manhattan?! The new logo was cut into a field of alfalfa and they recorded College of Ag kids saying GMA! How cool is that?!

(From our vacation) E kickin' it in David's shades
