Halloween Fun

I got these pics in an email and thought they were well worth sharing. I've got to think up something good for Misses Mags and Lil! (Do they make doggie maternity costumes for Maggie?)

The text is pretty funny if you can read it (you can click on each picture and it will open a bit bigger). I apologize for some of getting cut off. I wasn't quite sure how to fix it.

Happy Couple

Marisa and Rusty recently got their engagement photos taken. I think they are great pics of a great looking couple!

Grandma & Grandpa Visit

David's parents flew out for a quick visit this weekend. It is always so nice to have Grandma and Grandpa around! Ella can't get enough of being spoiled (imagine that!) and playing with both of them.

These pictures just crack me up.

It was a great weekend and E was so sad to see them leave. It's amazing how much spoilage can go on in a matter of a few days!

I Bleed Red and Black

Georgia, my dear, sweet Georgia. What in the hell happened?

I had made cheese dip and stocked the fridge with refreshing beverages. I had cheered and clapped and jumped for joy during the first half. I had even sent a "How 'bout them Dawgs!" text amidst all of the celebrating.

And then the second half happened.

Where did my Dawgs go? Why did you leave me with a headache and leftover cheese dip? Didn't you know that I am related to UT fans?! The 99 yard kick off return was great but not enough to turn the big, orange tide.

I still love you and will cheer for you no matter what but PLEASE don't do this to me during the Florida game. That game has deep meaning and will cut viciously into the heart of all Dawg fans if you don't kick some Gator tail.

I KNOW Georgia football is religion (and I'm praying awfully hard).

Thankful

Dear W0905,

You are the best.

You constantly do and say things that show us what true friendship is all about. We are indeed so lucky.

Love,
Megan Jo

Pink

Today was our big Tough Enough to Wear Pink hoopla. Things got pretty nuts around here since my office was the central location for all of the girls putting it on!

Tough Enough to Wear Pink is a breast cancer awareness fundraiser that originated with Pro Rodeo. They have benefit rodeos where the cowboys wear pink (who's tougher than a cowboy?). The groups who put on our Pink event sold t-shirts and had a free BBQ on the lawn. The girls sold 1500 t-shirts and still had people wanting to buy them! It was a really cool event and they made over $7,000 for the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
(You know darn well that I took a million pictures...)

Perks

Yet another reason why I like working for an agriculture based university:

As I walked back to my office from a meeting across campus, I traveled past the grain science building. Out front was a big sign advertising the Bakery Science Club's Bake Sale. Mmmmm.... Of course, I felt inclined to support the Bakery Science Club!

Now I sit here with a mouthful of foccacia bread and am eyeing some chocolate crackles cookies. Double mmmm....!

I look much like Mal here after enjoying my fancy bread and cookies!

HP

I am quite the fan of the Harry Potter books and am waiting rather impatiently for the last one to come out. Earlier this summer, the author let slip some information about the last book that had fans in an uproar. This article from msn.com addresses that issue as well as some new tidbits and speculates about both.

Read.

(Don't read if you have not finished #6!)

E is looking for last HP book too.

Clean sweep

Saturday was a very special day for all three of us. Aunt Jamie took E to Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina, which is a fantastic zoo. That meant that David and I had the day off for the first time in 3 years!! Nice!

Instead of goofing off like we wanted to, we seized the opportunity to get the house in tiptop shape. Not terribly exciting but a great sense of accomplishment, certainly. (I did manage to sneak in a little nap after lunch...)

Watching the Dawgs Saturday night was about as fun as cleaning the house. I'm glad they won but, come on! It's stinkin' Ole Miss! I hope they have a Come to Jesus meeting this week before Tennessee wipes the field with them! I want to be able to send nasty emails to my UT relatives, not receive them!

Speaking of Come to Jesus meetings, we went to church yesterday and heard a very good speaker. His message got me to thinking (which is the piont, right?). I am pondering about things that I know. Not just think, but KNOW. Several things have come to me but I'm sure many more will.

For instance: I know that I can count on David. I can count on him for all of the wonderful things a girl needs from her husband but also for a lot of silly things too. Like when we were pulling up the tomato plants and ended up playing green tomato baseball with the hoe handle and immature tomatoes. Nothing says love like splattering tomatoes on each other with each connection of bat and ball.

(I also know that Georgia football is like religion.)

What do you know?

E knows that playing in the creek is fun!

Foodie Goodies

Marisa posted two pictures yesterday that made me so hungry! She was writing about two things that she has recently been re-introduced to. Yuuuumm!

I used to eat these pretty frequently but had forgotten about them for a while. It is all too easy to down 10 of these in no time flat. Unfortunately the waistline will pay dearly. Oh so delish!

THEN, this pic should immediately make any north Georgian slip into a slightly comatose state and begin to drool:

I know it's a big shot o' grease but you have to throw your cares to the wind and chow down when it comes to the Big V. Chili dogs...mmmm...onion rings...mmmm...frosted orange...double mmmm! When is our next trip to A town?!

(Dare I mention that we don't have Waffle House OR Chick-Fil-A here? How I carry on, I don't know.)

Got any others?

Lutalyse, here we come!

Remember that I mentioned that Miss Maggie was becoming a woman? Apparently little Miss went out and flaunted her womanhood. And found a fan of said womanhood. Oh boy.

Yesterday David noticed that she is starting to build teats and we can only assume that she is in the family way. This is not good. She will be receiving a shot momentarily...

Here I was thinking that Lil was the big ol' hussy!

Who me?

Big girl

We tallied the votes and Big Girl Bed it was. I found this sheet and comforter set at a consignment shop for super cheap and E loves her princesses! She has done really well with staying in bed once she lays down. (Maybe it's my threat of going back to a crib if she's naughty that's doing it!)

There was a lot of horse riding going on this weekend. Ella likes to ride her horses to "get the buck out of 'em". I kid you not.

When I got home Friday night I found E with her pig tails out. I was struck with the realization that I hardly ever see her with her hair down.

Her hair is pretty stinkin' long. Way past her shoulders.

Does anyone else think she looks like me in this pic?

Good news! The raspberry plant that I thought I had thoroughly killed is coming back! I guess that's the beauty of growing something that is essentially a weed!

New sprouts at the bottom. Hooray!

Dog Day

I love my job!
In additon to the everyday goings on around here (which can get wild at times) I get treated to some of the neatest things!

One of our classes is Behavior of Domestic Animals and they had a very interesting lab that everyone was invited to. Over my lunch hour I got to watch the Topeka Police K-9 unit demonstrate their dogs. Very, very cool. These dogs are so smart and well behaved! Their favorite toy in the whole world is a foot long PVC pipe! Who knew? Maybe I will try out some of their techniques on Mags and Lil... maybe not.

In honor of seeing some very useful dogs working hard, I thought I would post a picture of Mags doing some hard work as well.

Licking off plates is a tiresome job.

Phone pics

I looked over my phone yesterday and realized that I have a few pictures on there that I never took off! So, here's me emptying my phone gallery!

Grasshopper chillin' on E's zinnias
I'm looking for some Mom advice: E is almost 3 and still sleeps in her crib. She hasn't tried to crawl out and has never mentioned having a big girl bed so when do we make the change? I've heard that you want to leave kiddies contained as long as you can but... 3 years old? Whaddaya think?

Wrapped

A quick shot into the bathroom as David does E's hair. She has him wrapped tight as a tick!

What should David's hairstylist name be? I'm thinking Frankie.
